Of course there are drugs licensed only for pets rather than food producing animals for food safety reasons, just never heard it the other way round.

If it's not there, maybe the manufacturer (like norbrook) doesn't pay for it to be in the compendium?

I can't find it in my 2018 Compendium - I must be being thick or blind, and not for the first time!

edit: yes, being thick. Found it on the VMD's site.

The SPC states a 12 month duration of immunity and annual boosters, so it's not self-contradictory anymore.

The RWAF stance is that breeding or boarding rabbits should be given filavac 6monthly. Normal rabbits fine for 12m.

Eravac is licensed in food rabbits but not pets and much less is known about duration of immunity. So Filavac is recommended (also less chance of injection site reactions as not oil based).

The two week separation comes from the standard separation of unlicensed vaccines.

It is clear as mud on the data sheet but it does state immunity from the single dose lasts for a year. The multidose packs appear to state six months.

The wording in both is: 'No information is available on the safety or efficacy of this vaccine when used with any other veterinary medicinal product. A decision to use this vaccine before or after any other veterinary medicinal product therefore needs to be made on a case by case basis'.

I suspect this is one one of those 'no research been done' situations. I give them at the same time time with no known issue, I can't see why there would be one so long as you give them in different sites. I will give the client the option of the inconvenience of coming back or the risk of a possible reaction.

If Filavac licensed by the VMD? It appears Eravac is now the licensed VHD2 vacc.

However, Eravac is oil adjuvanted - is there justification for using the cascade on safety grounds? I thought oil adjuvanted vaccines were long gone! I've no idea how long Eravac has been available.

In these situations (when someone asks me why I'm not using such-and-such that I've never heard of), I'll ask them for the name of the product. One, because I'm usually genuinely interested in finding out something new, but also two, because they rarely have an answer and it brings the topic of conversation to a passive end quite nicely.

Filavac contains both RHD 1 and 2 - but not Myxo, so you still need to vaccinate with Myxo/RHD1
