Quantify it. Costs nothing

24hr water intake rabbit normal 120ml/kg/day imo (more than other species).

Gives you justification for further diagnostics.

Bloods first for me inc EC titre

Check there hasn't been an obvious cause:

-Change of diet to high hay/dried weed intake

-Playing with water and losing more that way

-Centeal heating gone on

-Increased losses from respiratory tract disease

Then urinalysis, bloods and imaging (but swap CT for ultrasound)!!!

Well, to be fair, at 2 years old, not too much else! Especially if there really is nothing on clinical exam!

I wouldn't be doing the lot and charging the owner 2k. I'd probably start with bloods ... profile and e cuniculi...Urine changes can be difficult to interpret in rabbits.

Yes but which one first, and what's top of the list disease wise?

Bloods or urine. Is urine testing (Refractometer/human dipstix) any use with rabbit urine as it is.

I've sent the bunny home to get a US using Katkor tonight, with the thought to send it away for a pathologist to check.

The US/bloods/CT etc is always what you read in textbooks, in that you do the lot and present the owner with a £2000 bill and an answer, that's easy, I'm looking at a more targeted approach. I have no rabbit textbook here and I thought I'd throw it open to the 1-5 star and icon brigade, because one thing I have learnt about Vetsurgeon, someone always comes up with something interesting and do rabbits get another disease aside E Cuniculi? .

I'm afraid I don't think there is any alternative than to start with some diagnostics? In a 2 year old with no symptoms I'd probably start with checking for e cuniculi. Otherwise, you'd follow the same procedures as you would in another species ... Urine, bloods, ultrasound..
