Apparently have to buy it for £50 or increase my monthly payments to £150 Platinum which seems pretty crazy! My lite membership is not good enough!

RE: Varroa webinar
varroa mite mimic the odour of the bees they are on.
That's astounding (though not for the bees, obviously), on a par with those fluke larvae that make ants climb to the top of grass stalks and wait to be eaten - nature never fails to amaze me.

For the experienced beekeeper much of it was familiar territory but some real gems in there.

The most fascinating one was that varroa mite mimic the odour of the bees they are on. Pupae, nurse bees and foragers all have different scents and varroa mites can 'mimic' this hydrocarbon profile within 3 hours so the bees don't know they are there! A passive process where the 'scent' of the bee passes onto the mites cuticle.

Also did not know that fat bodies in the bee body are equated to the mammalian liver as metabolic centres.

I think it is a webinar that should be freely available to all vets and possibly compulsory viewing!!

The bee population is struggling and within an hour one webinar can give any vet enough information to talk to even the most knowledgeable beekeeper.

Really sad that such a useful webinar comes with such a price tag. Every vet should have at least this level of knowledge!

In The Webinar Vets favour, they immediately made it available to me when I complained. Not sure if BBVA could talk to them about making it more available?

RE: Varroa webinar
I am already a member of the British Bee Veterinary Association and it was their email that brought the webinar to my attention.

Sad really as I would have been interested in hearing it and there is limited CPD available and the bee population has been really struggling.
I agree Bob. I'm a BBVA member and Webinar Vet member too and would have expected at least a discount. Not very encouraging.

RE: Varroa webinar

I am already a member of the British Bee Veterinary Association and it was their email that brought the webinar to my attention.

Jokes may be amusing but my hives were nearly wiped out by varroa this summer.

i do believe that for £50 a month (plus BVA discount) I should be able to choose the webinar I wish to watch. Sent an email to cancel my 'lite' membership!
sorry Bob , there’s a bee vet society which might help, should have all the most up to date info , I think Bob Moore is part of it. You probably already know about it

RE: Varroa webinar

Jokes may be amusing but my hives were nearly wiped out by varroa this summer.
