Well it sort of does

Stressed rabbits immunocompromised due to cortisol sensitivity

Multi rabbits

Antigenic mass perhaps not enough (Costs)

on this last point I've seen lots of sub devastational myxomatosis following challenge in vaccinated rabbits at 10-11 m post vaccination.

The precipitate is normal and nothing to worry about.

I think the data sheet originally said 6 months and then they changed it to 12 months. From what i've read/seen some recommend 12 months unless in a high risk situation e.g. a boarding establishment, in which case 6 months.

Has anyone had any problems with storage of the Filavac?

I fished out some from our fridge today to find that it was all cloudy with precipitate (looked like brown dishwater).

We'd received that particular pack 2mths ago and it had been kept in the fridge all that time. The data logger from the fridge has shown no extremes of temperatures apart from the occasional minute or two when it gets up to 8c when restocking the fridge.

I'd give them a call but my French isn't up to that level of discussion (started taking French lessons 10 days ago, perhaps next year!)

It must have been updated. The contradictory intervals in the datasheet had me scratching my head!

I was reading http://www.vmd.defra.gov.uk/ProductInformationDatabase/SPC_Documents/SPC_1170567.DOC (which says revised July 2017) and can't see 6 months?

Filavac is now freely available in packs of 5 in a normal order from our wholesaler NVS. Using quite a lot but only doing annually. Should I change that protocol?

How are you ordering it? Last time I tried to get a Special Import Certificate I could no longer see it listed as an option on the VMD website, I assumed this was because we now have to use Eravac as it has a UK license, even though it comes in multi-dose vials that have to be used immediately after broaching.

No, the Eravac is only licenced for meat rabbits and not pet rabbits so it's still fine to use filavac. I don't do the ordering but I believe it is a much simpler process now and it is done through the wholesaler.

I advise people come back for it when I do every myxi vacc and get quite a lot of take up. We've had several clients sign up because we have it too.

1st Vacc

6 month booster

then yearly.

Quite a few practices are using it and no issues seen. Clients are actively asking for it.

One local practice has had 3 confirmed cases, another case confirmed in Hampshire, so definitely worth thinking about.
