serial USG and quantify water intake to confirm the USG, if persistently around this level then SDMA?

Consider Cushings as a cause of raised UPC but usually would expect a slightly higher USg with cushings? UCCR to rule out?[quote user="Anthony Dennison"]

Colleague has asked for some help on a case he's dealing with at the moment. Dog is clinically normal, had a urine sample done and had a USG of 1.012. Bloods showed slightly raised urea, creatinine well WNL, rest of bloods fine. UPC was really high, at about 4.

Since then all bloods have been normal. Urine sediment unremarkable. Nothing cultured on urine culture. Ultrasound scan unremarkable.

Dog is fine in itself, but UPC isn't dropping below 2. I've suggested checking SDMA, but if the bloods are normal I'm assuming it may be a post renal issue?

Some breeds that have juvenile glomerulonephropathy can have an elevated UPC for years before they actually get in kidney failure and you see changes in bloods.

I don't find SDMA helpful I had high in normal dogs and normal in dogs with renal failure. I wouldn't trust it
