Joint taps may yield some information, or biopsy if you're happy to take a chunk out of such a narrow, moth eaten bone without causing fracture!
The crepitus might be from the djd or i suppose there could be a fracture in there somewhere.

When it's held in place and flexed is there crepitus?

RE: Hock pathology

Sorry contralateral normal.

It's unstable mediolaterally with a bit of force. Worse medially. Craniocaudally stable. Crepitus pronounced. If not they may be related to the previous trauma.

On the cc view it look like the fibular malleolus is fractured but the hock looks like it luxates laterally which wouldn't fit. There is a big effusion of the tibio-tarsal joint.
