Can anyone point me in the direction of a source for yohimbine?

Thanks!

and thanks for the human suggestions, Jon Cracknell sent me his book and it slipped my mind to check that will be my next port of call.

I do enjoy the remote anaesthetic delivery, something very primitive about running round fields with guns :)

RE: Yohimbine?

Zoletil, medetomidine, butorphanol looks a good combination, especially if this is for beasties with no residue issues. I'd love to try alpha 2, ketamine and fentanyl too.

I have to say I'm speaking entirely theoretically, based on a n interest in anaesthesia and the capture section of my conservation masters. I'm debating getting set up for remote anaesthetic delivery myself. I'm sure you have good contact, Jonathon Cracknell springs to mind or Peter Green. Neil Anderson at Edinburgh is very knowledgable and I recently had an excellent chat with Andrew Greenwood about darting boar.

Iain

RE: Yohimbine?
Have you tried opiod combinations to reduce the alpha-2 dose?
Not yet (other than etorphine but human risks mean I want to avoid this as much as possible). Adding in torb is an option and I like this in theory due to the short duration plus analgesia, but cost is potentially prohibitive for the very large species.
He asks with slight hesitation, but his curiosity is greater than his fear of giving offence to an acknowledge speciaist!
Haha! No offence taken in any way. I'm not really a specialist other than by RCVS designation - I do every discipline in nearly every species but not to any advanced level and there is very little I do regularly enough to claim any superior expertise above anyone else.
Which species?
Large exotic hoofstock.

I always reversed a2s in small mammals and did see the resedation particularly in rabbits (resolved with top up half dose of atipam) but a nice warm kennel, syringe feeding and regular observation was much easier with those!

Clearly my idea of 'exotic' is probably a lot less esoteric that yours (albeit we've had reptiles, primates, penguins and a porcupine) I have found that I never have to reverse an alpha -2 in small furries: rabbits, Gn pigs, hamsters, ferrets, mice etc they all wake up very quickly and resume normal activity but it will invariably be in combination with an opioid and probably ketamine with maintenance on isoflurane.

RE: Yohimbine?

Try wildpharm: http://wildpharm.com/yohimbine-hydrochloride-10mgml.html
