Especially as we are supposed to check it three times, on separate occasions?
You put the diluent in a separate sample pot in the machine, tell it you're doing a UPC and it does the dilution internally itself (same as it does if you want to do a dilution on a blood sample).

RE: In house urine protein: creatinine ratios?

[quote user="Kate Richardson"]Are they accurate?
I use the dipsticks as a guide for further investigation alongside clinical signs, biochem changes, refractometer and sediment exam and depending on case and available funds would then submit to lab. I have found close correlation between the conclusions from the in house sticks, clinical suspiscion and lab report...quantitative accuracy maybe not but qualitative value of ratio has been very good so far

RE: In house urine protein: creatinine ratios?

Out of interest how much does it cost?

RE: In house urine protein: creatinine ratios?

You can pool 3 equal aliquots of urine from different days instead of running three separate tests

RE: In house urine protein: creatinine ratios?

[quote user="Martin Atkinson"]

I've never run one on my own before, have to admit the nurses usually sort it, but it involves using a dilution tray (like the Idexx T4 slides).
Do people usually just do urine microscopy for one sample and then repeat a UPC without microscopy - to check that it is consistently raised ?
