I may treat with Bravecto to be safe, and then some cortavance. Am a bit worried about pred in this little dog.

Interesting; one of the last awkward interdigital dermatitis cases I saw, an older Lhasa, had Demodex on feet scrapes and our dermatologist commented that some other derms she talked to had been seeing more Demodex in the feet only in older dogs, rather than bald all over or periorbital +/- toes youngsters that they used to see more of in the past.

RE: Aaargggh interdigital furunculosis.......

I also use pred but also treat for demodex even if skin scrape negative.

RE: Aaargggh interdigital furunculosis.......

Had one Westie that did very well on Atopica.
Hi there, I have just inherited a case that has already had some work up.

Female neutered 4.5 year old pug (of course) that had a chronic interdigital 'cyst' L front paw in between digits 4 and 5. Had a lot of treatment and finally surgical excision.

A month ago developed and ID cyst L fore in between digits 3 and 4... Was put on amoxy/clav for 2 weeks, felt to not have helped, then put on clindamycin at 11mg/kg bid for the last 2 weeks which has helped but is still there (obvs). Also on hibi foot baths. I saw the dog for the first time the other day.

Rest of skin appears fine. Had skin scrapes, culture, fungal culture etc last year with the first id cyst. Apoquel tried and didn't help.

Sooo I have suggested a loooong course of abs (has only had 2 - 4 weeks in the past) and epsom salt bathing. I am wondering if this is ok to do with clindamycin - I have not had dogs on super long courses of this before. Does this sound like a reasonable approach, or should I just bite the bullet and refer for CO2 laser?

Thanks so much!

Delia

[/quote]

This may not be a popular suggestion, but I find that these resolve very quickly with prednisolone, 1mg/kg for at least a week and then wean off.
