Hmmm thanks everyone! Food for thought. I may treat with Bravecto to be safe, and then some cortavance. Am a bit worried about pred in this little dog.

Have had a couple of Lhasa dogs with a combination of demodex and atopic dermatitis. Bravecto worked when other products had failed. Bit sad as had been treating demodex for months with licensed products and then cleared rapidly so disgruntled owner unhappy we didnt use it to start with!

Interesting; one of the last awkward interdigital dermatitis cases I saw, an older Lhasa, had Demodex on feet scrapes and our dermatologist commented that some other derms she talked to had been seeing more Demodex in the feet only in older dogs, rather than bald all over or periorbital +/- toes youngsters that they used to see more of in the past.

Had one Westie that did very well on Atopica. Started at 7.5mg/kg sid, can't remember if we dropped it to 5mg/kg or not. Used to get them painfully badly (hopping lame) and quite frequently but was fine on Atopica (not sure how it did long term as I was only covering a mat leave at that practice).

I often start with both pred and cortavance and wean off the pred within 2-3weeks once reduced and maintain on cortavance as required (owners to monitor for itchy/irritable/swollen toes and se cortavance before full lesion develops)

This may not be a popular suggestion, but I find that these resolve very quickly with prednisolone, 1mg/kg for at least a week and then wean off.
