Note this is now a covert question to discover an alternative method of ligating ovaries!
PS as a new grad, I saw a bitch spay dramatically trying to bleed out post op from the right ovarian pedicle

RE: Endoscopic bitch spays

http://veterinaryrecord.bmj.com/content/176/5/125

RE: Endoscopic bitch spays

Never used due to cost but would love a ligasure vessel sealer. Speaking to some endoscopy users at CPD and they confirmed would be very possible to use with open techniques as well as endoscopic for ligatures. Cost of machine second hand is reasonable but consumables would just add too much of a premium for standard soft tissue surgery in my area. Single use tips can anecdotally be reused if you're ok with cold disinfection but can fail after 5-6 surgeries; site can be sealed then with new tips or standard ligatures then.
