&lt;p&gt;The short answer is probably not - the a toxin gene is present in all strains of C perfringens whether pathogenic or not and there is a high chance of finding this in normal cats.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It&amp;#39;s one of the reasons that faecal PCR panels are very difficult to interpret but you may find some help in the following consensus statement:&lt;/p&gt;
