She enquired what disease testing he should undergo as she "wanted to add to the breed" health. I'm struggling to find much info out and wondered if anyone could point me in the right

RE: Breeding Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

[quote user="alex gough"]It's just MRIs for the SM screening currently as far as I'm aware.
I think the problem is that the incidence and severity of the visible changes increase with age going from 25%+ at 2 to 75% in maturity . So lots of clinical normals have syrinx noted when looking for other things. Cant remember the last time we sent an MRI of a CKCS to Vet CT and it did not have a comment about an incidental syrinx that did not fit the clinical picture. The CKCS puppy sale price is not brilliant and the smaller litter size and hybrid production for similar returns means your making too big a hole in the bottom line of that particular cottage industry and telling them things they do not want to hear.

RE: Breeding Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

It's just MRIs for the SM screening currently as far as I'm aware.
I thought they were now doing CT scans or some such for SM?? (disclaimer: just something I thought I'd heard, may not be true!)

Assured Breeder Requirements

The following schemes, tests and/ or advice are mandatory requirements for Kennel Club Assured Breeders. All other breeders are strongly advised to use these schemes, tests and/ or advice.
