This is the rabbit I posted of a few weeks back, with radiographs. Entitled something like "whats wrong with the bunny?"
In summary - 3y 9m MN cross breed. Mainly outdoor but does come inside to play.

So the dose is 1ml/kg bid for 10 days according to Carpenter.

RE: Same rabbit...I'm still confused...saccharomyces significant???

It does sound a similar case. Thank you for sharing it - I'm not alone!!

I, too, had spoken to Mary at PALs earlier...she's in demand!

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for the dose conversion...!

RE: Same rabbit...I'm still confused...saccharomyces significant???

I don't know but I have a very similar case at the moment. I'm seeing it as a second opinion, main concern is recurrent/on-going urinary incontinence/scald and weight loss. His faeces are also soft but still eating normally and passing normal amounts. Has had radiographs and bloods done with previous vet, mild changes in liver parameters, nothing else found. E.cuniculi not tested for but given repeated course of panacur because assumed to be e.cuniculi. So I took blood and found biochem all unremarkable, reactive/toxic leucocytes, igG and igM e.cuniculi negative. 3 day pooled faecal sample showed saccharomyces guttalatus +++, otherwise negative. Speaking to Mary at PALS she thinks that level is abnormal and if fitting with symptoms should be treated with nystan.

I don't know if the overgrowth is because of repeated courses of panacur and antibiotics or if this has been a problem all along.

My problem now is to work out a dose for nystan. The formulary says 20mg/kg but the bottle says 100,000 IU/ml. Anyone know how to convert it?
