Does anyone have any experience of Contec? I can't justify spending much as we would only use it a few times a year (and none of the

RE: Is it possible to get a scanner this cheaply?
you may be better getting a hockey stick 10-12mHz probe for one of the existing scanners already present in the practice
Unfortunately we have nothing (think large room with post-mortem table and a microscope!!). I am starting from scratch with equipment and because we don't charge (I'm paid a day rate by the zoo to treat their animals) there is no model to recoup costs.
A colleague purchased a cheap eBay scanner for his equine stud work at home. He used it once and has returned to using one of the practice scanners! Waste of money... I don't know the make or anything.
This is my fear, although £750 is not a lot for a scanner, it is a lot for a rubbish bit of kit that can't even be used as a paperweight! Might just have to leave it off the wish list until we can raise enough capital to get something we can trust.

Thanks all,

That will do an excellent job with snakes , lizards, birds ,as well as small animal tumours ,eyes ,feline abdomens etc . for £1350 and you do not need to charge a fortune to get your money back either just on scans or US guided FNA s

RE: Is it possible to get a scanner this cheaply?
If you are using your professional training with all that value to test, interpret and make a clinical recommendation then you can charge for this.

Beacause as stated originally none of the work is chargeable so it is completely different financial planning to that applied in small animal practice. I can't justify blowing the entire departmental budget on a rarely used piece of equipment that can give stunning images but could justify £750 if it gives reasonable images.

RE: Is it possible to get a scanner this cheaply?

If you are imaging then like any other test you will make the best quality decisions with the best quality information.
