Saw an apparently well controlled JRT diabetic in last week for persistent unilateral oe...ongoing for couple months now per O, not initially bothering dog but now sore. Had drops from vet where their holiday home is to no avail. The spectrum of activity should be very similar, perhaps worth ringing the lab who did the culture/sensitivity? Plus the added benefit of only 1 application per week!

RE: Strep canis otitis in a diabetic
Personally I think sounds like otitis media
Sounds like it to me as well, you can maybe take a couple of bulla radiographs before doing anything else?

RE: Strep canis otitis in a diabetic

Personally I think sounds like otitis media and would most likely do myringotomy and flush out middle ear and home on amoxicillin at decent dose for the strep for 4-6 weeks at decent dose.

I usually advise that once weekly flushing for 3 weeks is to be anticipated and am usually pleasantly suprirsed that one good flush and appropriate systemic antibacterials seems to do the trick in majority of cases.
