I thought they were applied and are absorbed transdermally simply as an alternative to oral administration so not truly a topical treatment in the sense of shampoos and sprays etc. That said they do form a useful part of my armory for treating ski cases.

We have on the shelf Coatex Medicated, Coatex Aloe/Oatmeal, Malaseb, occasionally just Hibiscrub. Haven't tried the Duoxo range
Also cortavance, isaderm, betamethasone cream
Occasionally tacrolimus
Have never tried the topical EFAs (dermoscent etc.)

i like the douxo foams as good for compliance, but I do find the mousse turns to liquid quite quickly so has to applied immediately, but great for animals that need regyear baths in medicated shampoo but owners cant physically bath them (or don't want to)

Malaseb/Adaxio - get rid of the Malassezia and Staphs and it reduces the problem by up to 90%. Not found Douxo very effective and made one dog worse and most other 'soothing' shampoos are a waste of time. Other than than that Cortavance or Isaderm but they are only for local application, its then onto systemics.
