I found the solution a lot more difficult to work with and time consuming to do, the cream was far easier to place and feel comfortable that it was where it was needed. I would use the cream again in the future if I was to treat another.

RE: Nasal aspergillosis

Hello, we usually use either 1-2% enilconazole solution or canestan as long as the cribriform plate is ok (if it isn't I think you can use systemic itraconazole or fluconazole)...

RE: Nasal aspergillosis

Hi Virginia,

we use enilconazole but I suspect the specific drug doesn't matter.

We treat every 3 weeks until resolution but I agree with Evelyn that debridement is the critical component and the success is dependent on that rather than choice or method of topical.

We debride endoscopically as it allows a much more comprehensive approach than entering the sinus surgically.

They can be very challenging cases!

Once a week for at least four weeks.

Personally I think it better to go straight to irrigation with Canesten via the frontal sinus or sinuses.

A more recent thing is to do the irrigation then fill the sinuses up with Canesten cream and let it find its own way out. Seems promising.

I think myself it also improves the prognosis to spend considerable time dislodging the fungal plaques via the endoscope.
