This is a spun down and stained slide of the urine...
any help much appreciated.
I send off a lot of urine samples for cytology and epithelial cells are seen commonly in inflammatory conditions, it doesn't increase my suspicion of neoplasia. the presence of so many neutrophils makes me suspicious of bacterial infection. I'd add antibiotics, especially in an older cat

RE: Any urine cytology boffins out there?

Here's more....

RE: Any urine cytology boffins out there?

Thanks y'all!

No I haven't done anything other than send cat home on Metacam. Owner doesn't want to spend any money...

But I was at the LVS Idexx stream and we were encouraged to stain urine sediment slides and have a look. So I did. And then I realised I have no idea what all these various cells might be... which perhaps in it's self is odd. I too am suspicious there are epithelial cells, which could indicate a bladder wall tumour...

It's not palpable at this time though.

It's more for my own education than anything else, so thanks for the help!

RE: Any urine cytology boffins out there?

I'm not so sure about the 3 cells top left, look a bit neoplastic to me.
