The lack of movement would move me away from considering a paroxysmal movement disorder. Based on this, and given the breed, this would be most compatible with idiopathic head bobbing - a postural head tremor. Most dogs are distracted from this by offering food or walking the dog. I sometimes wonder if it comes on when dogs are bored and hence stimulation sorts it out. But as others have said, this does not require imaging, it is a benign condition, non-progressive and doesn't respond to medication. Best labelled as this and then left alone. I encourage owners to 'google' it as this often reassures.

RE: 1 year old lip twitching Boxer - any ideas?
Paroxysmal movement disorder . nothing to do ,no lesions to see on imaging , if its a problem sometimes phenobarb/levitiracetam responsive.
I remember I had a client with an older greyhound once who did this every now and then. We couldn't find any reason for it, it didn't progress into something more sinister. Petit mal sort of thing?
