I was a bit dubious of giving an alpha-2 for owners to use unsupervised but apparently the dog, while not completely relaxed, was a lot calmer and didn't destroy anything in a panic which was a massive improvement.

RE: Sileo

Just had my first feedback on Sileo. Owner of JRT reckons it didn't work and had great difficulty applying it. My suspicion is that because it has to be absorbed transmucosally if the owner is struggling to get it in the dogs mouth they may not get in the check pouch and anyway how many dogs will hoick it out and swallow it even if they do? 0/1 so far then.

RE: Sileo

2 weeks will cover the artilary barrage........aka firework season.

I was pleased as punch, made her a little dozey but noticeably calmer. did not need to top up.

so for smaller dogs i think it's worth trying, larger ones that already have other treatments given in the past that work well, i tended to dish out the xanax and or diazepam as before.

Remember sileo is to be used with caution in older animals given what it is. Nothing is perfect but i don't feel overly constrained by the Cascade as there is no way one product fits all scenarios.

The biggest issue i have with sileo is that it is supposed to be binned after 2 weeks which is ridiculously short.

RE: Sileo

I've sold 4 tubes for our local fireworks night last night so I will wait to hear tomorrow whether we had success stories or not!

My OH has used it before but had a lot of complaints about dogs being too sedated so now suggests owners give a half dose and then top up if necc.

RE: Sileo

The product is licensed and therefore to be tried first:
