We currently use Nationwide labs and allervet allergy tetting offering with vetgoid vaccines. Having recently met with CVC promoting Spectrum they tell me that Spectrum ilabs are, of course, really good!

There are some pros/cons that

RE: Spectrum Labs Allergy testing (Via CVC)

We changed to CVC about a year ago. It is apparently a bit cheaper than the others, and you get a very nice owner friendly folder with the results, and recommendations for how to decrease environmental allergens like storage mites/moulds. You don't have to choose what is tested for (i.e. you don't have to choose between different 'panels', it's all done as standard)

I have to admit I am sceptical about it because

a) the test includes food allergens, which I ignore and tell them to feed ZD in any case, but it's annoying for clients to read it and say 'so I'm fine as long as I avoid food with chicken'

b) I don't think it is always particularly effective, and I think they'd probably be better on Apoquel...

c) the owners really struggle to stick to the schedules, and sometimes the advice from CVC about restarting the schedule or whatever (e.g. if an owner goes on holiday and comes in three weeks late for their injection....) is a bit complicated and seems to be wildly different between different animals

RE: Spectrum Labs Allergy testing (Via CVC)

I have serious questions in regards the whole process

I ask every client 'How is 'xxx' doing.

In 2 years I have found 2 cases where the clients thought it had made an appreciable difference. The rest aren't sure at all. The theory seems OK but in practice??
