Mostly vomiting, anaphylaxis was rare in the one study reviewing ferret vaccination. It is freely available online via JAVMA if my attempts to attach it fail...

Thanks folks for the advice. The ferret had been vacc before so a reaction wasn't beyond the realms of possibility. I've given the vaccine now and haven't heard from the owner so presume everything is ok. It did occur to me after posting that in the event of anaphylaxis an over the counter antihistamine probably wouldn't be much help anyway.

Has it been vaccinated before, because if not it can't have an anaphylactic reaction....

I read somewhere that most American pet ferrets are (in)bred on one or two vast ferret "puppy farms" rather than UK ferrets which are more likely to have a heterogenous mix of working stock not far back in their lineage. So presumably our ferrets may have better immune systems that don't go pop when faced with a vaccine, and you can't compare the two populations.

Have vaccinated hundreds and never seen a single reaction- I still ask them to stay in the waiting room 20mins after vaccination as a precaution.

I think a lot of the fear stems from reactions to Purevax seen in the USA but we don't have that here anyway
