Note the spaniel breed and hence might find this paper interesting

Vaccidents and adversomics; Vaccine 28 (2010) 6549–6550

genomic adversomics will mean that we can one day pick the vaccidents dogs and humans well in advance. Would be interesting to know how the rest of the litter went as in humans often only one child in the family gets the TP effect. TP is a known effect of vaccination in children but interestingly is no longer a reason to stop vaccinating the child later on in life. The vaccine does interfere with platelets and one of the reasons why since 1985 paper below, I personally dont like to do surgery elective within one month of a vaccine or give carthrophen concurrently etc.

Acquired bleeding disorders in the dog- JSAP June 1985.

But for this sprocker I would be going with Wynne and looking for infectious cases, toxins and other triggers not the vaccine.

RE: Icteric 9 week old FE Sprocker, thoughts?
secondary to vaccination?
proven not to be.

we used to see a lot more AIHA post vaccination up to the end of the 1990s. Most had had a concurrent flea problem which was addressed at the visit by some via administration of an organophosphate product (also not a good thing to be giving generally!). My reading was that organophosphate inhibition of pancreatic BuChe leads to cholinergic hyperstimulation of the acinar cell, which results in acute pancreatitis in dogs and guinea pigs. Pancreatitis is known to trigger IMHA? So were many of the earlier vaccine reported AIHA actually from co-administered chemical? the combination of both or a genetic based immune condition in some lines of some breeds esp C.Spaniels?

I found an old snippet note below, from 2010 so may have been replaced by more current publications but a good read on fears, misinformation and true risks related to vaccination

Vaccination9 has been a purported cause of IMHA in dogs, in spite of its rarity in cats and humans. This possible association was suggested by a case-control study in which 15 of 58 IMHA cases (26%) had been vaccinated in the previous 30 days compared with 5% of the 70 control dogs. The second highest rate was among dogs (13 of 58) that were vaccinated more than 12 months before IMHA diagnosis. This association was not supported by a later case-control study which found no significant difference between groups. Five (10%) of 52 cases had been vaccinated in the month before diagnosis, as had an equal number of control dogs. The largest number (17) of cases had been vaccinated 12 months or more before diagnosis, compared with 5 controls. Other investigators also failed to find an association between vaccination and IMHA using a case-control study.
