&lt;p&gt;Unlike some others - I&amp;#39;m quite happy people asking me questions or chatting when operating. It&amp;#39;s like driving - if it gets complicated I need quiet, but 99% of the time can crack on.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I too have noticed younger vets can&amp;#39;t seemingly talk and operate.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I&amp;#39;m playing with a pair that link to my phone via Bluetooth, so can listen to whatever I like blocking out the world and pointless background tittle tattle. I can even listen to Iron Maiden without fear of upsetting the cats! Great.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In one &lt;span style="text-decoration:line-through;"&gt;sh1thole&lt;/span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;span style="text-decoration:line-through;"&gt;sweatshop&lt;/span&gt; low cost clinic I once had the misfortune to locum for it was so&amp;nbsp;noisy in &amp;quot;theatre&amp;quot; that I had to wear headphones or ear plugs. &amp;quot;Theatre&amp;quot; was a converted garage with bare unplastered breeze block walls, and was also cattery, kennel, freezer room and communal area. &lt;p&gt;I am not convinced by it though, and would like to see more, and more comprehensive research before I accepted that heavy metal music was detrimental to cats in any way. For example the study only used 12 cats, and there was no comparison between different anaesthetic agents, different planes of anaesthesia or even differing volumes of music.&lt;/p&gt;
