It does look fractured but I think its angulation - vet taking x-rays reported difficult to extend all joints. Yes the lumbar situation is interesting - bit of a mushy mess caudally.

The interesting thing is the lack of appreciable lameness up until the jumping off the bed. When I've seen septic arthitides in the past any movement is agony, similarly rheumatoid. We can run external tests if owners willing to pay cost, but cautious of fishing trips.

Have sent pics off to some referral centres, will report back.

Someone suggested synovial osteochondromatosis. No, me neither.

I've also not seen anything like it, but I would have septic polyarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis top of my list. I think I would want to do joint taps to check for septic arthritis, will RSPCA funds stretch to sending blood for rheumatoid factor testing? Hopefully someone a bit more knowledgeable will be along soon!

Wow, poor dog! Some sort of multiple epiphyseal dysplasia maybe? Hopefully an orthopod can enlighten us soon. I wouldn't think this dog has a good prognosis really but hope I am wrong.

I can't pretend to be helpful, except to say that doesn't look anything like hypertrophic osteopathy to me.
