You can get soluble paracetamol that could then easily be added to food but note it is quite high in salt I was told. Makes it easier to give, probably works faster as well?

I am trying to treat secondary muscular pain due to posture, plus she is a 9 y old GSD so I guess there might be a component of osteoarthritis contributing to her discomfort.

I heard about this several times and I'm very interested in finding out more, but could not find any publications... do you have any papers? I'd love to try but I'm a bit scared of side effects and I can not see how it can last for a week or even a month...

Trocoxil is long gone from the market. The suggestion is it is not going to return. A real shame as I considered it a very good product. Easy for clients to comply with and we did not see any adverse reactions to speak of.

You could also try amantadine syrup as an alternative, unsure of its ingredients, but can work as well as gaba in some cases. There's also a tramadol syrup available, but it ain't supposed to taste too good.

Xylitol poisoning is over-estimated IME.

Good results with carprofen where meloxicam causes upset, and carprieve tablets are tiny and rimadyl tasty. A lot of the GI upset is thought to be direct irritant effect i.e. nowt to do with COX. Heard good reports about onsior but never used it. What about trocoxil, once a month?

My old dog was on three different meds eventually and life was made much easier by her partiality to banana which was of excellent stickability with a capsule or tablets pushed in or made into mini sandwiches. She never considered synulox to be palatable

Thanks to some comments on here, my very elderly Staffie is on gabapentin. Much happier!

She has it wrapped in white bread, compressed almost to a paste! No problems giving this but she is otherwise a nightmare to give tablets to. I have never known a dog that is so clever at not taking tablets.

Seems to have saccharin as the sweetener. It may be a case of checking individual manufactured products.

Have you tried some of the more cox-2 specific NSAIDs, such as Onsior? I've found them to be well tolerated in dogs with sensitive guts.

Just a thought - calpol? Had a quick look at the ingredients list and I don't see anything that would give immediate cause for alarm.
