 I have had a 12 yo cat with an acute history of mild inappetance, diarrhoea and lethargy. 
 PE: hydration status- ok; moist oral mm/no skin tent. HR 170 bpm regular! rpm 40, no congestion on lower airways. Flaccid abdomen; no discomfort. He was trying to work-out what was wrong with the dog. &lt;p&gt;In any case, I would agree with you - your clinical signs are not compatible with your result. You must treat the patient, not the numbers IMO. Until you find the cause of this, which is highly likely to be a lab error, I would treat the patient considering that your K+ is unknown.&lt;/p&gt;
