Rabbit welfare say leave standard 14d between vaccines as not licensed to use at same time.

Can it be injected at the same time as the other vaccination (Myxo-RHD)

Sounds like a daft question, but neither of us here are sure, so have delayed to 3 weeks between injections just to be safe.

I think Filavac is the only one available now. Still need an import certificate but available in 5 dose boxes from Centaur hopefully at the end of the month.

I think it's a different vaccine to the one that was available before, I think there are 3 vaccines licensed in mainland Europe for RHD2.

We've just registered on Centaurs waiting list. You need to apply for a requisition form etc. Theyve told us it will come in single doses or boxes of ? Ten. I think we too will send letters to our vaccinated rabbit clients and then order it in as requested.

My worry is if rabbits die because their owners didn't know about the disease or possibility of vaccination, and we haven't passed that information, that we know, on to them; it won't go down well and I wouldn't rest too easy.

I agree, which is why once we've booked in the people who have requested it, and are happy that we will be able to get enough from our wholesaler we will be publicising it on our website and facebook page, we haven't decided yet if we're going to write to all our rabbit clients, or possibly just those who already vaccinate regularly with the current Myso-RHD vaccine.

We ordered some yesterday and are waiting for it to arrive. We plan to initially use it for clients that have requested it, then publicise it more widely, and after that when we see rabbits for their Myxo-RHD vacc discuss seeing them again 2-3 weeks later to give the Filavac.

PS just checked with NVS and they are expecting some at the end of this month but you still need an SIC.

There is another thread on this somewhere. Basically the old VHD vaccine does not protect against new VHD2 strain. Rabbit breeders will lead you to believe there is a pandemic of dying rabbits where there are in reality only a dozen reports. As always the truth is probably somewhere in between as many cases may not be reported or post mortemed.

The last report was that present imported stocks of vaccine are exhausted although wholesalers should be stocking Cunivak soon.

Meanwhile it is recommended you use the combined Myxo/VHD1 vaccine as the new one doesn't protect against the former.
