There has been a universal mild reaction in all adult dogs but much fewer in pups albeit the vast majority have been with the multi-valent Versican DHPPiL4.

My understanding over the last few years is that the Lepto vaccines are theoretically more likely to have adverse reactions occur compared to the core dog vaccines, and particularly in toy or small breed dogs (ie: NOT spaniels!) - however, I've never had one to report. Had a couple of rabies vaccine reactions and the odd sarcoma cat, but no dog ones in my experience. I think that information is provided in the WSAVA guidelines as well.

Nice to know it's not just the politicians lying to us.

When the human vaccination scare story was whooping cough vaccine (about 30 years ago) I remember talking to an old lady..............she looked to be in her 80s back then. She was terribly uoset because she'd just had a dreadful quarrel with 1 of her grandchildren. The grandchild was refusing to vaccinate his/her own child because of percieved risks.

The old lady remembered her best childhood friend dying of whooping cough. She said that one day her friend was in school, the next she was at home ill, the following week they buried her.

[/quote] good and you can say that I had my puppy vaccinated with L4 the same morning because I prefer to have faith in science than some headline seeking pillock, and that scaremongering claptrap costs lives.

And if I had my time again I would still vaccinate my sons with MMR because vaccination saves lives and they had subtle symptoms of autism before vaccination if you know how to recognise them.

And before the advent of vaccination we carked it from polio, TB etc etc and distemper and parvovirus are hideous diseases.

Hebden Bridge is full of homeopath loving, alternative therapy devotees who recently stampeded to the surgery with their unvaccinated teenagers because there were five cases of measles locally. And they all demanded emergency appointments having delayed havping a brain for fifteen years.

Contagion, Suggestibility... no rigurous reporting, just a lot of words put together with a common entity to blame, in this case, us. No trying to explain evidence, only an statement of the evil conspiracy that we are all part of... yep! That's what I meant: 'Education isn't necessary'

Maybe we should put it all for the public to vote, since the trust on us is fading, which is of course our own fault... and have a 'Vet-xit'

My understanding is that dogs are only going to be protected by 18 weeks. Nothing about not to be vaccinated before 18 weeks!

It will be interesting to see what happens when these dogs come back for their first/next annual booster, then we may know if there is a problem with the vaccine rather than just an over-enthusiastic immune response to a novel vaccine component. That is several months away for most of us I suspect.

We've been here before with L4 vaccine reactions. IME The reaction to Versican L4 has been minimal in puppies but with most adult dogs being reported as being a bit quiet for 24-48 hrs. I warn owners this is likley to happen and not a single one has required any follow up. I explain it as the immune system having to re-learn a new vaccine and liken it to when they've had a vaccine and they feel a bit 'off' for a day, then they understand.

I read that , really bad reporting, not thousands dead or damaged but two thousand adverse reactions
