In the middle of March the sheep were seen by one of the other vets in the practice as they were itchy and scabby, no obvious lice were seen. The sheep were treated with Dectomax

RE: Lice in goats
I spoke to Elanco and they said they don't recommend Crovect in goats as it can burn the skin.
Do a patch test if you want, but it seems to be fine. There's various work published using cypermethrin in goats for lice. We have a book "Diseases of the Goat" and it recommends topical cypermethrin (0.25ml/kg of a 1.25% solution). Crovect is a 1.25% solution.........

RE: Lice in goats
I thought the sheep dose was 1ml/33kg?
My apologies. The sheep dose is 1ml/50kg for internal parasites, and 1ml/33kg for external. I had them the other way around in my head.

RE: Lice in goats

Thanks for the replies.

Is there a friendly neighbouring farmer would would let them join in when next dipping? Showers seem ok for lice, but are inadequate for scab.

I would use cypermethrin (Crovect and generics) if you want a pour on.

Mixed lice/mite infestations are not uncommon. Maybe worth doing a scab anitibody test.
