I am being respectful of a researcher's work and findings-so I cant say anything in detail as its not my story to tell- but I am also conflicted as I dont want an animal to have an issue not saying something-so I am conflicted rather than conspiratorial.

Just in case you've sent people off on the wrong thread - your wording, to me, sounds like the dog is self-supplementing - or do you mean the owner supplements the diet with grass?

The cat grass I've seen in the past looked more like wheat. I can't see any nutritional value , neither for cats nor dogs. Cats eat grass to bring up hair balls, so I can see how it is of some value for them, I am not sure if grass is essential here though. In both species there is a risk of nasopharyngeal FB, so why take the risk if there is no benefit (in dogs). If they eat grass outside it's a risk that comes with being out and about, but I can't see why we should provide grass for dogs.

My dog happily nibbles on fresh grass, causes no problems (though I do treat for lungworm regularly). I can't see why cat grass would cause an issue.

Erm....because its totally unnecessary, unless they're being fed on some restricted BARF diet in which case the diet needs improving with more than just a bit of rabbit fodder, and is likely to make then vomit. So why bother? For that matter, why bother with a cat having it either?
