1.5 yr old M(e) Weimaraner in very good overall body condition gets rapidly fatigued and will lie flat out panting heavil for 20 minutes after moderate exercise. He does not collapse during exercise but gets breathless

RE: Exercise intolerance in a 1.5yr Weimaraner

I will review the chest rads but didn't see anything to make me think of megaoesophagus or aspiration pneumonia (and no leucocytosis).

No visible muscle weakness and no collapse, which is why I wasn't thinking MG. He can get up but prefers to lie panting. From the limited MG cases I have seen, they just quietly go wobbly and flop down whereas this dog will run normally, walk home then flake out panting.

I could easily run the anti AChR antibody test, though.

I wondered that too, or some other sort of myopathy/neuromuscular disease, particularly with this in addition
Occasional throat-clearing type cough.
Was there any sign of a megoesophagus on the chest rads? Have had a couple of dogs with megoesophagus present just as cough initially ie no regurgitation

When did the problem start - has he always been exercise intolerant, or recent onset?

Quick google search - Weimeraners can get a dystrophin-deficient muscular dystrophy similar to Duchenne muscular dystrophy (rptd case was 2yrs old)- but probably extremely rarely...
