I am in West Africa and my only choices are from Sanofi Avensis and are Insuman Lente, Insuman Comb 30 and Insuman Rapid. I have just read about anti-insulin antibody

RE: Insulin in Africa

Was thinking the very same.

RE: Insulin in Africa

Thanks, I didn't know that. How much more antigenic is it than porcine insulin to a dog?

Indeed they were. We'd pop down to the chemist to get them. Along with a glass syringe and some boilable needles.

But the human ones referred to by Jennifer really are human insulin. Manufactured by genetic engineering, I believe.

I doubt it's truly human! It's probably either porcine or bovine insulin. Back in the day, pre-cascade veterinary licensed insulins didn't exist, and medically licensed preps of both PZI and lente were used without apparent problems.

Take a "do no harm" viewpoint. If you don't treat this dog, it will die. Treat it (and according to Merck) there's a slight risk of antibody development, but it will still have had an extended life span.
