A great way to quickly learn how to apply SANOS is to watch Dr. Peter Emily’s instructional YouTube video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbuJSeVjLHE.

Apply SANOS under the gum line after the professional dental cleaning.

SANOS is not for stopping plaque on the crown of the tooth. SANOS is for protecting the gingiva and gingival sulcus, the most important area to aid in the prevention of periodontal disease.

RE: Sanos
I've got 2 cases I have treated with Sanos in the past 6months who I am following to assess it's efficacy
I didn't think it was hideously expensive, but its not somethiong to splash around on any old case. Both cases marked gingivitis/plaque/tartar building up with no underlying pathology which despite daily brushing required a descaling procedure approx every 6-9 months, so if this product does delay the build up (alongside continued homecare) then it becomes cost effective and also means less anaesthetics for the animal which has to be a good thing.

In regards to adherence, the polymers include multiple binding sites designed to attach to the surface of enamel and gingiva keeping the polymers on the site where they are placed.

SANOS is a solution of polymers in water and ethyl alcohol that is professionally applied with dental brushes to the gingival line and gingival sulcus.

The primary function of the polymers is to block plaque from attaching to the gingival line and gingival sulcus.

The SANOS polymer is hydrophilic with pores that are designed to allow water and oxygen to pass through resulting in an unfavorable environment for anaerobic organisms.

For more detail, see the peer-reviewed publication: C. Sitzman, Evaluation of a hydrophilic gingival dental sealant in beagle dogs.
