Our diluent is saline and it is the Dechra stuff we have which is a bigger volume. I have decided just to freeze the entire vials as the injection volume is higher than Synanthen.

I find this forum really handy for small tips like this. It started with a nurse saying 'I think you can' and as the practice had been asked £250 for 5 vials I thought I'd spread the word about.

We split the vial into measured amounts for the same dogs testing, so future proofed that case

Yes we also split into aliquots and freeze. Seems to work fine.

We still have a couple of doses of the Dechra stuff but it has to be used by the end of the month!!

Lower dose works just as well as the old standard one!

Have done even when it was less expensive and still have some left from then. However I tend to use LDDS test for diagnosing Cushings and keep the Synacthen for Addisons.

Will be following this. We're doing pre and post-pill cortisol for our Cushing monitoring but only have 2 vials left for future addisonians!
