Does anyone have any recommendations on what food to use when feeding a hospitalised renal failure cat vi naso-oesophageal tube?
We usually use RCW convalescence support, but would obviously prefer a more renal-friendly diet that is tubable

Re: Tube feeding renal failure cats

I suppose you could always try mixing a phosphate binder in powder form with the convalescence diet?

I'm not an expert but I would suggest that in the short term it really doesn't matter what you feed the cat. The convalescence diet should be just fine. The renal diet really only makes a difference in the long term and advice at CPD I've attended has always been to get the cat eating first and then, if possible, switch it to renal food.

Hope that helps :)
