Showed me a video in consult and appears like head tremors rather than seizure-the dog can be distracted

RE: Idiopathic head tremors in a boxer?

is it on Comfortis or Panoramis? IHR may well fit the picture, we have it in a couple of dogs here but sadly given its a Boxer, my index of suspicion for intra-cranial mass goes higher-what are the optic discs and retinal vessels like- If you tilt the head up and down and also side to side-do you get any occular movement disorders?

RE: Idiopathic head tremors in a boxer?

Treatment is advised only if it occurs very often, to improve the quality of life when affected. It often is not successful, as it will just reduce the movement's frequency:

Hypoallergic, glutten free diet

Fluoxetine at 2mg/kg SID (prozac)

Acetazolamide

I've tried upoading the video the owner showed me but no success. He's certainly conscious and will respond to her but looks a bit confused by what's going on. O not aware of any trigger. In the video he is just sitting on the sofa.

RE: Idiopathic head tremors in a boxer?

Some develop paroxysmal movement disorders that can go on for ages until interrupted , some people claim responses to treatment with anticonvulsants , not sure that is the way to go ,as they are not really seizure activity just a wiring malfunction so there is no exitotoxicity and it should not progress or get worse .

RE: Idiopathic head tremors in a boxer?

any other seizure / petit mal type actions or is it literally looking like anticipation head tremours - ie only occurs when something exciting is about to happen?

RE: Idiopathic head tremors in a boxer?

Can anyone help with this one?
