My subjective opinion over last 3 yrs is dogs don't do well on this food-'off the boil' as they say and when we change the diet then the dog's overall condition

RE: Emu Oil toxic or relay toxicity issues query

Now Martin- it is called the land of Oz for a reason.... Quite seriously, camel meat is used in the derm world as a novel protein- but in Oz it bac fired and the derm cases(not mine) became internal med cases. The emu oil is found in one of THE if not THE most expensive dry food in Oz but rarely recommended by vets-mostly pet shop driven- and the market share is HUGE - and yes my clients rapidly come off it once I know but shucks..I cant be everywhere no matter how hard I try and often exhausted just beating the RMB lobby into ensuring they dont insult the non believers so now the emu oil brigade had a chance to get traction. That aside, the renal disorders are real and the second case I mentioned today seen by a specialist who contacted me this arvo as it clicked with them that they had heard me raise concerns about this food so the warning light went off with them when they saw the same diet appear on the history sheet.

RE: Emu Oil toxic or relay toxicity issues query

This almost sounds like a wind-up although knowing you Aine I'm sure its not but you do come up with some pretty wacky subjects sometimes!. I'm struggling to understand why anyone would want to use Emu oil as a source of anything, let alone an EFA in a commercially available diet, and anyone who feeds camel meat to their pet in Australia well... quite frankly must be nuts. Time to talk some sense into your clients me thinks.
