Initially it hasn't cause a problem but as it has grown it is starting to get knocked and bleed. Dog isn't trying to lick at it or anything

RE: Bleeding wart on point of hock

Sorry to hear that

What would be the best way of managing something like this? Surgical resolution is just going to put another wound there, cautery the same. Would something like applying silver nitrate potentially work? Or would the leg need dressing and replacing every few days whilst it healed?
How pedunculated is it? Could you just tie a piece of suture material around it and wait for it to fall off?

RE: Bleeding wart on point of hock

Maybe just snip and cauterise?
This was my first thought, but would it not just leave another wound from cautery that could potentially break down and bleed?
Depends how big it is I suppose. If it's small enough it should heal up ok by 2nd intention. Warts tend to bleed when they get knocked, but once you've removed it and cauterised it it should take care of any bleeding.

RE: Bleeding wart on point of hock
Maybe just snip and cauterise?
Relatively cheap and easy. Obviously might not be that informative but without knowing what the mass is, makes it more difficult to manage.

Minor warts seem to do OK with excision but cryo might be another possibility!
