acetaminophen in g.pigs

There are conflicting reports of it being well tolerated and being acutely toxic in guinea pigs so I've never used it. Meloxicam at least has scientific data behind dosing regimens and no significant risk of side effects.

Cascade aside, does paracetamol work well in gp's? Anyone at all use it?

The cascade is product specific, not active ingredient. Therefore oral meloxicam trumps oral paracetamol - unless you can cut a Pardale V with a scalpel blade and split it with a visa card......

Paracetamol is licensed for dogs, so is Metacam so can't really see the difference under the cascade.

Why not? Given that nothing is licensed for guinea pigs anyway.

However, it is irrelevant whether it is used, effective, ineffective or toxic. The minute the 'rodentoligist' prescribed it, they broke the law.

Given that Metacam is so safe and widely used in these species I cannot see why it would be necessary. Report them for it
