I'm concerned about side effects if advocate is used alongside - am I being overcautious or should I be advising something different? In fact Bravecto has produced some 'miracle' cures in adult cases. I hope it gets a license soon for Demodex.

Aludex is nasty to use, the fumes have caused a death in a human due to some reaction I have heard, in America I think.

RE: Demodex: panomec and advocate
It's a bit better if you give it weekly but that's off licence
I believe it does actually have a licence for weekly application for the treatment of demodex. The Noah compendium says

'Advocate can be applied once a week and for a prolonged time' when treating demodex.

That aside i do find it still less effective than weekly aludex washes. I have yet to try Bravecto but the paper does seem to show this as a promising alternative. As for using advocate and panomec together i would avoid this for the same reasons as everyone else has given already.

RE: Demodex: panomec and advocate
Sorry, I was reading the bit advocating ('scuse the pun :P) Bravecto and thinking milbemax, my mistake! I have heard that Nexgard is soon to be licensed for lungworm, although obviously wouldn't help cascade-wise for now.

RE: Demodex: panomec and advocate
Aludex is licensed but is pretty nasty stuff to handle.

That's an interesting one. I don't know how Advocate is licensed for Demodex because it is pretty poor, especially monthly as in the data sheet. It's a bit better if you give it weekly but that's off licence. Aludex is licensed but is pretty nasty stuff to handle. Daily Milbemax is effective but again off licence. Bravecto seems to be effective. Ivermectin is pretty safe so long as you avoid sheepdogs or test for MDR 1 gene first.

RE: Demodex: panomec and advocate

I don't know how effective panamec is vs lungworm but I'd agree that is might be worrying to use another macrocyclic lactone orally

RE: Demodex: panomec and advocate

I definitely wouldn't give milbemax and ivomec together - sane class of drug
