[/quote]I must read the data sheet if that is what it says. However I haven't had a problem and I think we're into the realm where the benefit of getting them out socialising and habituating outweighs any theoretical risk.

I always warn owners that the pet may be a bit off colour for 24 hrs and be a bit uncomfortable at the site of injection so they don't worry and liken it to when they have a vaccination. Its the ones I forget to tell that call up the next day saying they're quiet an off their grub a bit.

I suspect we are warning owners of side effects more than before. It becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy!

I think many owners just take a mild reaction in their stride unless we draw their attention to the possibility.

I'm halfway through my 4th box of Versican Plus and only two reports of dogs off colour for more than a few hours, none needed to be seen. What are you guys doing?

Had a number of dogs showing mild fever and malaise. One or two with stiff necks. Overall probably more than with Vanguard but none come to any harm.

I would agree with the comment someone made about it being adults that have more issues than puppies. Not a single problem there. Toy breeds seem no more represented than other breeds.

Single oral dose of meloxicam seems to sort those that are miserable.

We have one yorkie that 'collapses' after every combination we have tried (full booster, small booster then just lepto) so have decided to leave that one be for now!

Did pre-treat another one that had prior issues with piriton and was uneventful but this may have been the luck of the draw.

So far no dog has reacted to both injections and will be interesting to see if there are issues with annual boosters. By then there should be additional vaccine choices.

Have seen two horrible necrotic reactions from the second versican plus L4 injection and a colleague just sent an email that in one week they had two dogs collapse in shock straight after the second injection. Recovered with dexamethason injection and oxygen, but they are now scared to use it! Have ysed it in my own dog without the least bit of reaction though.

We've been using Nobivac L4 for about 18 months now and haven't had any significant problems. I initially thought it seemed to sting more than L2, but I'm less convinced now, they do seem to be more likely to scratch at the site immediately after the injection.

These were both from the same batch of Nobivac L4 and have both been reported. One ended up having significant debridement and drain placement.

There is another thread on this, there have been a number of reactions. However I've now used 50 Versican Plus L4 vaccines and had one person complain the dog was off colour for a couple of days and a couple say they were a bit sensitive at the injection site. Strangely it seems worse in adults than pups. I've not been moved to report any as an adverse reaction yet I would always expect some reaction to a vaccine. I always try to advise people that the animal may be off colour for a couple of days and the injection site may be a bit sensitive and then I get no calls!

I've been locumming in 2 practices ovr the last 6 months. One uses L2 and the other L4. I've not seen any major vaccination reactions but the L4 seems to sting a lot on injection, especially in puppies - not nice when they start yelping on their first visit
