Breeders love to create the impression that their top stud cat had just appeared from the jungle. Marketing over reality!

Should an individual appear with confirmed jungle lineage then I might consider my position regarding PETS passports!

A small mention in the Vet Times, then confirmed with a google search

I'm not an OV as locum so have no access to the training material, so am surprised this isn't obvious, I presume it's buried in an update.

I do though stick with the premise that I wouldn't sign a passport, the potential ramifications are similar to the 'individual cremation that has been accidentally communally cremated' it could be hideous.

 Neil

PS I also picked up something from Radio 4 about the increased number of in my opinion crazy crosses in cats (akin to Cockapoos) were servals etc are being crossed (no pun intended) with other cats, so would be an increasing issue.

RE: Pet Passports - definition of dog and cat

The fact is that they will show more enthusiasm for making sure every i is dotted and every t is crossed on pet passports, than they will for checking for lorry loads of illegal immigrants, or drug smugglers.

Q Why?

A People who have taken out passports in the 1st place have demonstrated that they're law-abiding. There is far less of a risk that the customs officers will suffer violence. than if they apprehend illegals, so they can gain Browmie points by demonstrating that they're vigilant - at minimal risk to themselves

The Bengal Cat is a domestic cat breed developed to evoke the feline denizens of the jungle. Bengal Cats were developed by the selective breeding of domestic cats crossed then backcrossed and backcrossed once more with hybrids from the Asian leopard cat (ALC), Prionailurus bengalensisand domestic cat, with the goal of creating a confident, healthy and friendly cat with a highly contrasted and vividly marked coat.
</sup>

The name "Bengal cat" was derived from the taxonomic name of theAsian leopard cat (P. b. bengalensis). They have a "wild" appearance with large spots, rosettes, and a light/white belly, and a body structure reminiscent of the ALC.[2] Once separated by at least four generations from the original ALC x domestic cat crossing, the breed possesses a gentle domestic cat temperament".
</sup>

And who is going to think this is a hybrid with a wild cat?:...

I think any immigration officer would need to have his jobsworth hat on, got out of bed the wrong side, just missed a lorry load of illegal immigrants and found his wife sleeping with his neighbour to bother.
