I think the owner has been recommended Advantix but reading the data sheet

RE: Ectoparasite prevention for travelling dog?
I would advise them to go with Advantix/VectraD
Are you suggesting these together or as an alternative Sammy? They clearly double up on several things but neither cover heartworm (even if you're covering the vector I'd advise something for that) or tapeworm so you need something for them.

RE: Ectoparasite prevention for travelling dog?
I've asked her to contact her local vet - as long as she can get it done out there that's fine, we just can't do anything here without delaying her travel. As she's been there a few years in a row (just never for this long) hopefully she has a local vet to speak to.
Why can't you do anything before they go? As long as the new rabies vaccine is given before the expiry of the previous one they could travel the same day if they wanted.

RE: Ectoparasite prevention for travelling dog?
Even if it has almost all its 3 years to run Spain will require an annual vaccination (i.e. 12 months after the last one) after the dog has been in the country for 3 months as it will be considered resident and subject to local regulations.
They might be able to find an English speaking vet too if they are in a tourist area.

RE: Ectoparasite prevention for travelling dog?
I hadn't heard of Vectra 3D but will certainly mention it to the owner - again frequency of swimming/bathing might be an issue. Unfortunately she's going in 2 weeks so a Leishmaniasis vaccine course isn't possible here.

In terms of the rabies vaccine it's due late next year so I asked her to contact the passport helpline here to confirm whether the vaccine would be valid for that length of stay - again it's to late to do a booster here. I didn't think about contacting a vet over there though so will suggest that - thanks!

If reduces the risk of developing disease. Also we also vaccinated a few with Canileish.

I'd stick also with Scalibor + Bravecto nontheless for ectoparasites.
