We use it too, quite a lot. Quite happy using the Pardale paracetamol dosage, rather than the BSAVA one plucked out of the air. We've had dogs on it for years with no issues (alongside other NSAIDs).

They promote ibuprofen alternated with paracetamol in humans with OTC medication

I have discussed this with Dechra and it is errant nonsense. There is no CI for paracetamol and NSAID and it is standard in human pain relief. The wording is courtesy of the VMD.

Yes we do it all the time in acute and chronic situations. I usually do as Laurence does and use 10mg/kg though

I use it in combination a lot. Just note that the datasheet dose of Pardale is quote high compared to the BSAVA formulary recommended dose of Paracetemol (30mg/kg tid compared to 10mg/kg if I recall correctly).

In combination with NSAID I always use the paracetemol component at 10mg/kg

Thanks. I was just making sure as it said it was contraindicated with an NSAID in the data sheet but I was pretty sure I saw it used at university quite a lot

Same here. Pardale only licensed for 5days but it's a useful drug. Certainly co-codamol and an nsaid does wonders for me when my back plays up, far better than nsaid alone so can see why it works for dogs too.

Yes we do it a lot, either for extra pain relief in an acute situation, or as an addition to NSAID in chronic arthritics in need of extra pain relief. Off licence long term as the licence is 5 days I think, but we don't get many issues and it's a really useful dRug.
