Libeo may be cheaper than summits product but it is more expensive than frusemide 20mg tablets unsurprisingly. We have some in and I am waiting to try them out. I am also waiting for amodip to get to the wholesaler now it is being advertised in the veterinary press.

Ive always used liquid oral furosemide (or occasionally injectable) for cats. Never tried the tablets, are these quite tasty - do most cats eat them and do you think there is a significant enough advantage over liquid to try them out?

They are still stocking 0.3125 tablets.

PS just in case you're wondering as that is my second post promoting Summit, I don't have shares in them!!

Yes - but libeo is sooooo much better. Furosemide 10mg are a generic (I think) so aren't, strictly speaking , a licensed product and are a pig to break up (they just disintegrate) but libeo divides easily - and is a lovely palatable chewy tablet!

(Speaking as someone whose cat is now on libeo, after previously being on the furosemide - and has less scratches because of it!!)

The biggest problem with itraconazole capsules (Sporanox or generic) is that they are 100mg and should not be divided, as we don't want owners exposed to these drugs uneccessarily. Divisible ketoconazole tablets are better, but ketoconazole in my experience has issues sometimes with producing hypocortisolaemia (were trialled for treatment of Cushings years ago). I often use ketoconazole with a low dose of prednsiolone which prevents unwanted clinical signs (and helps with the underlying atopy if treating malassezia sometimes!)

Libeo not licensed for cats, millpledge frusemide 20mg are so again you're down the cascade. Another drug that turns out to be less useful than promised...

Itraconazole tablets is going to be easier than Imaverol wash I think. I had just seen that fungiconazol was finally becoming available. Now I am waiting for the libeo tablets which have had a big ad in the vet press but which are not yet in at NVS. They tell me they are waiting to hear back from ceva. An easily divisible frusemide for small dogs and cats should definitely be useful.

I think if you want an oral antifungal for a dog you should use itraconazole liquid for cats following cascade. The volume needed for big dogs is not the easiest to administer so you might make an argument for human generic itraconazole caspsules.
Also, Imaverol for ringworm in licensed in the dog - works very well in my experience.

My guess is that the names are carefully devised so that they pop up when someone is searching a stock list for something they can't remember the name of.

Which suggests that the marketing department for Amodip is craftier than that for Vivelin

I would guess that authorisation of drugs usually occurs well before they are available to purchase as presumably the drug companies get the product authorised before going into mass production.

The cascade takes availability of drugs into account so my view is that you are perfectly justified to use, for example human amlodipine, until the licensed version becomes available (which may still be years after it has been authorised).
