Delayed response to this question as just been reading through forum for info on the Lepto 4 vaccine. I had a dog in from Romania recently -it had had DHPPi and initially I thought it hadn't had a lepto vaccine but turns out it had had a Rabies/lepto combined vaccine as well as the DHPPi.

Not seen any reactions, but I do think dogs do seem more likely to scratch at the injection site immediately afterwards (even with an orange needle) than with the L2

We use Nobivac L4 vaccines and have done since launch; no adverse events to report.

Had a client whose dog was vaccinated in Norway brought for an annual kennel cough booster, it was in 2 weeks ago for Rabies booster for its passport. On inspection of the vaccine record it had DHPPi 18 months ago but no mention of leptospirosis although the record wan't very clear and the Norwegian vet hasn't responded to my request for clinical records. Does this mean there is no lepto in Norway so it is not a core vaccine? As it is going to be staying in the UK for the foreseeable future I elected to give it a full DHPPiL booster with a recommendation that it has a second L (still only bivalent!) in 2-6 weeks. It's horrifying - 25% of all diseases in dogs occur within 3 months of an annual booster vaccination, and that increases to a third after only 4 months!

We've been using Nobivac Lepto4 for over a year now, we had one dog develop IMHA within a week of vaccination, was it vaccine induced? would the same have happened after Lepto2, who knows!

When we first started using it I thought more dogs reacted painfully to it, then I had none react for several weeks so I decided that random events tend to cluster and stopped worrying about it.

We stopped using Vanguard L because of the level of pain reactions. I use yellow needles!

No change in my injection technique and have had no problems with numerous other brands. I have to say I blame the vaccine not needles or temperature nor the stage of the moon!

We are running our vaccine levels down in preparation for Versican Plus but will 'upgrade' people only at booster time unless a clear threat becomes evident.

By now everyone should be aware that vaccines are the real cause of global warming and the violence in Eastern Europe! ISIS may also have been created by mad scientists in a vaccine laboratory. It is just how it is on the internet!

Sounds like a case of watch this space. I have resisted the change to L4 vaccines largely because of the vaccine protocol and supplier I use but mainly because I see little evidence to suggest it is of any practical advantage currently in the UK. However with the imminent launch of Versican Plus from Zoetis I'm about to be tempted.

Firstly: While its not a bad idea to keep your finger on the pulse and watch what the anti mob are up to ,their credibility tends to be undermined by a deep seated jealous irrational desire to dramatically reduce your turnover and undermine your right to prescribe. "You charge all that money for that little injection that actually cost you a few pence, and you cannot even do that right sometimes".

2. Were the transient pain cases with the green needles supplied by the manufacturers ? I tend to avoid that with blue needles .

No none.

Can I ask , how do you conclude that the transient pain you have seen is due to below room temp vaccine ? Our vaccines are given straight from fridge , don't see problems.
