I wouldn't think so, it is usually a sign of a hemiplagia after tie back repair, not before.

Mariette
Not necessarily, there is definitely an increased risk (normally cited at approx 20%) of aspiration following tieback but many dogs with laryngeal paralysis are at risk of aspiration even without surgery being done,
Examine Under Anaesthetic?

Could this just be early signs of laryngeal hemiplagia?
It could be, laryngeal paralyis is often the first sign of a generalised neuropathy. A lot of dogs will also have a degree of oesophageal dysfunction (due to the pararecurrent laryngeal nerve also being affected). It's a bit of a leap to suggest that LP is most likely as it sounds more likely to be a pharyngeal dysphagia to me. I think EUA to rule out physical/mass effect causes and also to check laryngeal abduction is a very sensible first step. I'd radiograph the chest at the same time if you don't find anything obvious.

If you draw a blank then we'd then do a fluoroscopic barium swallow, it seems to be the best way to pick up on subtle swallowing disorders (and is done in the conscious dog etc so o's normally happy for this to be done).

Best of luck,
