We are still operating with one of those monstrosities that looks like a big UFO. Something born out of the 70`ties. I want a handy little thing that would

Re: Surgical lighting

I`m currently considering buying THIS light
Given that is just a less bulky version what I already have (and as it is attached to the ceiling bulk is not an issue) I just wondered what you have presently Stigen. It sounds a bit like change for the sake of change to me - if it ain't broke don't fix it!
I guess you are right...it is`nt broke...but it is`nt great either....Bulky, and limited lighting, 3 beams where only one is good for centering on the operation wound. I just think LED would offer more clarity, stronger light that penetrates deeper. Something to make the working day just a bit easier. And most importantly; it`s a new gadget, and I`m male,so I need gadgets.
we bought a dr mach LED 130 PLUS AT CONGRESS 100000lux fantastic light for its size and made praa surgery really easy from eichemier ( probably not spelt that correctly) was very good value.
That`s good to know, think I will buy that one now !

You quickly become used to it, and I hate operating without it now. The main problem is remembering not to look at the nurses when I'm talking to them otherwise they get blinded (and grumpy!)
Tried them occasionally for eye surgery, but did`nt really like operating with magnification, as my own vision still is quite good.
Ouch! I guess it's a sign of getting old! Working under magnification does take some getting used to, but can make an enormous difference.

Re: Surgical lighting

we bought a dr mach LED 130 PLUS AT CONGRESS 100000lux fantastic light for its size and made praa surgery really easy from eichemier ( probably not spelt that correctly) was very good value.

Re: Surgical lighting
I`m currently considering buying THIS light
Given that is just a less bulky version what I already have (and as it is attached to the ceiling bulk is not an issue) I just wondered what you have presently Stigen.
I bought this a couple of years ago with 2.5x magnification loupes mainly for dentistry. I use the light for all my ops, rarely using our overhead operating light now. The position of the light gives you a shadow-free view and gives light wherever you are looking, including into the deepest, darkest recesses of the abdomen. The battery pack charges quickly and lasts for ages (I think 17 hours from memory). It cost me around £1500 with the loupes, but would obviously be cheaper if you don't need these.

It may not be exactly what you were thinking of, but I find it far more versatile and generally useful than a traditional overhead light.

that`s an original idea, but I fear I would find having a headlight on at all times a bit distracting. We do have some head lights with magnification, but I very seldom use dem. It`s classified as examination room light, not op.light, but I think it would offer enough for most surgeries.

Re: Surgical lighting

Vet Direct and JAK Marketing have heaps of them.
