two addisonian dogs in the same house is unlikely but not impossible.

Re: possible illegal drug toxicity

So I am thinking great this dog has read the textbooks on addisons and gave it dex iv, ivft overnight and next day dog completely normal.
I would assume its Addisons until proven otherwise and a least repeat the cortisol. How are the electrolytes and did your haematology look for eosinophils? I've had a 6 months old Addisonian which just presented weak with GI signs with almost normal electrolytes but the Na:K ratio was 27 which worries me as I want it to be over 30 and it's eosinophils were raised which was what alerted me.
Not sure about the possibility of illegal drug ingestion, I would also want to make sure I had ruled out Addison's. I discovered recently that dexamethasone is not the ideal drug to give in an Addisonian crisis as it has very little mineralocorticoid activity, oral pred is much better, or if they're vomiting i/v methylpred.

Re: possible illegal drug toxicity
So I am thinking great this dog has read the textbooks on addisons and gave it dex iv, ivft overnight and next day dog completely normal.
I would assume its Addisons until proven otherwise and a least repeat the cortisol. I find a direct questioning with assurances you won't report it to anyone normally has them admit what the dog has eaten. Have seen a whole range of presentations in drugged dogs so there's often not a "typical" appearance but where nothing else fits it can be handy.

Over here you can get drug detection kits from the chemist but you need owner consent to do the test, so much easier just to ask straight up.
